Shockwave Therapy for Women’s Pelvic Health in Chula Vista
Can shockwave help with a C-section scar, a tailbone that never settled, or an abdominal wall that has not worked properly since the baby?
Short answer: for the right problem, yes — and we are the only clinic in San Diego County running all three machines, which is what makes it possible to find out properly. Chula Vista, five minutes from Eastlake and Otay Ranch. We also have a Kearny Mesa clinic. Both have private treatment rooms.

Why nobody in the South Bay offers this
Shockwave clinics treat tendons. Pelvic health clinics treat pelvic floors. The two almost never sit in the same building, so the women whose problem is tissue quality rather than muscle strength fall straight down the gap between them.
Running these machines on the lower abdomen, a surgical scar or the area around the tailbone takes a clinician who understands both — what the tissue is doing, and what the device will and will not do to it.
We are a physical therapy practice first. The machines are a tool in the hour, not the reason for the appointment.
What we see women for
C-section scar that feels stuck
A shelf, a pull, a patch that is numb and tight at once. The visible line is the least interesting layer. Years after the surgery is not too late.
Tailbone pain that will not settle
Small, deep and stubborn — the problem focused shockwave was built for. From a fall, a delivery, or a chair and a decade of sitting.
Diastasis recti and a core that will not switch on
The gap matters less than whether the tissue across it can take load. We assess the second thing.
Pain left behind by endometriosis
We do not treat the disease — your physician does. We work on the adhesions, the guarding and the restricted movement that surgery does not resolve.
Bladder leakage and urgency
Timing and tissue quality, not a hundred more Kegels. Often the fastest-changing complaint on this list.
Hip, low back and glute pain that came with all of it
Years of working around a pelvic problem loads everything else differently. It is usually part of the same picture.
The three machines, and when each one earns its place
Focused shockwave
Deep and precise, aimed at one small target. First choice for a stubborn tailbone or a single adhered band of scar.
Radial pressure wave
A handheld applicator working across a wider area — the lower abdomen, a C-section line, the glutes. First choice when the target is broad. An FDA cleared radial pressure wave/EPAT device for treating acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain.
EMTT
Magnetic field therapy. No contact and nothing to feel. Run alongside the other two to help tissue respond, and the easiest to tolerate on a sore region.
We will tell you which one we are using, where, and why — every visit. More on radial versus focused shockwave.

What the appointment is like
One Doctor of Physical Therapy, one hour, one-on-one, in a private room. The assessment comes first — how you move, how you breathe, how you load, what the scar is doing — and nothing gets switched on before we know what we are aiming at.
Most women describe the shockwave as a strong tapping. We set the intensity with you and we turn it down the moment you say so. EMTT you will not feel at all.
We do not perform internal exams or internal treatment. Everything we do is external. If internal work is what you need, we will tell you and we will point you to someone who does it.

Questions women ask us
Is shockwave safe on the lower abdomen?
Used by a trained clinician, at settings chosen for the tissue in front of them, yes. We screen for the situations where it is not appropriate before anything is switched on, and that screen is part of the assessment.
How long before I notice something?
Most women feel a difference inside the first three or four weeks. How long the whole thing takes depends on how long you have had it — we will give you a straight answer after the assessment, not before it.
Can you work on a scar from eight years ago?
Yes, and those often respond better than people expect. Old does not mean fixed.
Will this cure my endometriosis?
No, and anybody telling you otherwise is selling something. The disease is managed by your physician. We work on the pain and the stiffness that are left over.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book yourself in.
